A few weeks ago I purchased a Hennessy Hammock Expedition and have tested it on a few different backpacking trips. I have fallen in love with it! Here are the pros and cons.
Pros Cons
Light at 2 lbs 6 oz Sleeping pad is a must due to wind chill
Comfortable
Bug free
Quick setup
Breathable in summer
So far, the coldest I have slept in it has been the high 30s and I have been toasty in a 40 degree bag and liner with long underwear and a hat on. This is just my experience with an awesome piece of gear. I will edit this post after I have used the hammock in colder temperatures.

This is a blog to review and discuss backpacking gear. I will start us off with stoves. Particularly a DIY alcohol stove.
First off is the good old canister stove. Here are its stats.
Pros Cons
-Ultrafast boil time -Cant see how much fuel is left in a canister
-relatively lightwieght -Can get heavy on longer trips
-pricier
Next is a DIY alcohol stove.
Pros Cons
-Ultralight -Easier to tip
-Can see how much fuel is left -Slower boil time
-Cheap
I personally like alcohol stoves better, but I want to know what you think. Please comment. Also, if you are interested in a DIY alcohol stove design, here is a fantastic one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93Gq_nxZmXw
